Mrs. Crumley is the Assistant to the Superintendent and serves the District as PEIMS Coordinator, Assessment Coordinator, Federal Programs Coordinator, Curriculum Director, and Student Management Software Coordinator. PEIMS (Public Education Information System) In compliance with the Texas Education Code, the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) contains only the data necessary for the legislature and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to perform their legally authorized functions in overseeing public education. It does not contain any information relating to instructional method, except as required by federal law. As District Coordinator, I ensure that all submissions are done as accurately as possible and follow all the legal requirements. Assessment The Student Assessment Division manages and oversees the development, administration, scoring, and analysis of the statewide assessment program. The statewide assessment program includes the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Modified (TAKS-M), Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Alternative (TAKS - Alt), the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS), and the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS). The District coordinator ensures that the test security is maintained, staff training is provided, students are assessed appropriately and that the results are reported as required by law in a timely manner. Federal Programs All NCLB (No Child Left Behind) programs are included as well as Carl Perkins (Career and Technology Education) funds. Peaster receives funds for Title I Part A Targeted Assistance for reading and math grades K-5, Title II Part A Teacher and Principal Training and Recruitment, Title IV Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities, Title V Innovative Programs. The District participates in Shared Service Arrangements for Title I Part C Migrant Education, Title II Part D Technology, Title III Part A English Language Acquisition with Education Service Center Region XI. The District participates in a Shared Service Arrangement for CTE funds with Springtown ISD. If you have questions about any of the programs you will find more information at the following web sites http://www.tea.state.tx.us/nclb/ or http://www.tea.state.tx.us/cte/. I am happy to answer any questions you may have concerning local use of funds. Curriculum TEA has developed Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for each subject taught in the public school system. You my view them at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/teks/. The District ensures that the TEKS are taught but that serves as a framework and is not the entire curriculum. Teachers enhance the course to a rigorous standard that enables our students to be successful beyond public education. Student Management Software The District uses software to maintain student records for demographics, grades, attendance and to submit PEIMS data. I work with the vendor to be familiar with the software application, assist local users, install updates, and ensure that accuracy in all aspects is maintained. |
